Social Media Club Louisville is proud to welcome social media pioneer and innovator Chris Brogan to Louisville to speak to SMC Louisville in an event that is free and open to the public. Brogan will lead an open discussion on social media marketing for business on Tuesday, May 19 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. in the Humana Training Center, 500 West Main Street, 25th Floor, in downtown Louisville.

The general topic of the discussion will be, “Now what?” Brogan will begin the event by moving past the social media basics to implementing strategies and tactics both internally and externally to empower and energize businesses small and large. The event is being presented by Humana and Louisville, Possibility City.

Brogan is a ten year veteran of using social media and both web and mobile technologies to build digital relationships for businesses, organizations, and individuals. He speaks, blogs, writes articles, and makes media of all kinds at chrisbrogan.com, a blog in the top 10 of the Advertising Age Power150, and in the top 100 on Technorati.

“Chris Brogan is one of the top two or three thinkers in the social media space on the planet,” said Jason Falls, president of Social Media Club Louisville. “To have an opportunity to spend a couple hours discussing social media marketing with him — at no charge — is a rare one. We’re honored to have Chris at SMC Louisville and hope the community understands what a rare opportunity it is to learn from one of the social media industry’s zen masters.”

Learning Abounds At SMC Louisville Boot Camp

Social Media Club Louisville was proud and thrilled to host 34 advertising, marketing and public relations professionals for a half-day boot camp on Tuesday morning at the Frazier International History Museum. Participants got an up close look at social media strategies and tactics from members of the organization’s board of directors. Topics covered included listening to the conversation, participating in that conversation using blogs, blogger outreach as a public relations professional, leveraging social networks for your brands and clients and the all-important measurement piece of social media.

While we certainly didn’t quite have enough time to get through all the intricate details of every issue, the immediate feedback from the participants was positive. Our goal was to deliver value for each participant. If we failed in that goal for any of those in attendance, please let us know via email at smclouisville - at - gmail.com. We want to ensure you got value from your experience.

That said, as promised, here is the presentation from the boot camp for those interested:

Again, we are aware several other entities from both in and out of town are offering social media training an expertise these days. We are honored you chose to invest your time and money with us. We’re also thankful for our friends from Indianapolis who made the trip down. It was a pleasure to have you.

Welcome to the new smclouisville.org

If you’re reading via email or an rss reader I highly recommend hopping on over to smclouisville.org. We’ve got a brand new, beautiful new site design and I want you to see it.

This design was very generously donated by a local SMC supporter. Then the design was turned into a brilliant, functional and altogether awesome Wordpress theme by local designer Ricky Irvine. Thank you designer who wants to stay anonymous and thank you so much to Ricky. I can’t recommend Ricky’s work highly enough. And he’s a super nice guy. Win-win.

Social Media Club Louisville has a good lineup of events ahead of us for Spring and I’m so pleased that we get to start this busy season with a new look for our home here.
